Concerned with Human function and Movement and maximizing Physical Potential it is concerned with identifying and maximizing quality of life and movement potential within the spheres of promotion prevention treatment or intervention habilitation and rehabilitation. 


 
He uses physical approaches to promote maintain and restore physical psychological and social well-being taking into account variations in health status it is science-based committed to extending applying evaluating and reviewing the evidence that underpins and informs its practice and delivery physicians like hypocrites and later Galina’s are believed to have been the first practitioners of physiotherapy advocating massage manual therapy techniques and hydrotherapy to treat people in 460 Bc after the development of orthopedics in the 18th century machines like the gymnastic were developed to treat gout and similar diseases by systematic exercise of joints similar to the to the later developments in physiotherapy in 1894 four nurses in great Britain formed the chartered society of physiotherapy the school of physiotherapy at the university of Otego in new Zealand was formed in 1913.

          History of Physiotherapy in Nepal

 Let us talk about the history of Physiotherapy in Nepal in 1970s. There were army trained and leprosy trained professionals as well as professionals who were trained on the job by expatriates and trained in India in 1980s the 1983 certificate course was established by the institute of medicine through one university where entry was allowed after these school level examination 2000 onwards in 2002 the certificate course started at Tulik hill medical institute at Kathmandu university where entry was available after the school level as well in the 1990s there were ongoing efforts to organize a physiotherapy professional group in Nepal and it led to the formation of Pran the professional rehabilitation association of Nepal in 2002 Nepal physiotherapy association was officially formed in 2003 a.d.

Nepal physiotherapy association NEPTA joined the world

Confederation for physical therapy it also attended the first

WCPT congress in Spain as well as started relationship with the New Zealand society of physiotherapy in 2010 ad bpt or bachelor of physiotherapy program was started for the first time in Nepal by Kathmandu university it is a four and a half year course with problem-based learning

Curriculum similarly in 2018 bastard of physiotherapy program was started by Bokhara University which is also a 4.5 year course.

The scope of physical therapy lies in Assessment evaluation planning and Implementation of treatment programs for wide range of medical conditions it also lies in relieving physical pain and treatment of injuries it increases mobility build strength improves balance and coordination as well as enhances the cardiopulmonary performance of a person it uses variety of techniques to maintain the property of joints and muscles it makes an individual confident as well as independent so that they can perform their activity of daily living it also provides gait training and postural correction the essence of physiotherapy is much more than manipulating just joints and muscles while we often think of the benefits of physiotherapy as pertaining to just muscles and joints this treatment is also successfully used in other forms of rehabilitation in getting patients up and moving while boosting both the endurance levels as well as their confidence for patients who have seemed to lost faith in themselves or in getting better physiotherapy has often acted as the one source of hope that keeps them going from suffering through years of pain to finally being able to complete the activities of their daily lives physiotherapy and physiotherapists will be your guiding light.
